A message for customers

Orbit Energy Limited (the “Company”) has ceased to trade and appointed Administrators. Mark Firmin, Joanne Hewitt-Schembri, and Paul Berkovi, each of Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP, were appointed Joint Administrators of the Company on 1 December 2021.

Ofgem, the energy regulator, has appointed ScottishPower as the new supplier for customers. Customers don’t need to worry – their supplies are secure.

ScottishPower will begin supplying energy to all of Orbit Energy’s customers from 1 December 2021. ScottishPower will contact customers over the coming days and again in a few weeks when the transfer has been completed and accounts have been fully set up.

Former and current customers’ credit balances are protected, and ScottishPower will contact customers if they need to determine the amount of any outstanding balance. Domestic customers will also be protected by the energy price cap when being switched to ScottishPower.

Current and former customers with outstanding balances owed to Orbit Energy will be contacted in due to talk to about repayment arrangements.

Ofgem’s advice to Orbit Energy’s customers is not to switch, but to sit tight and wait until ScottishPower has been in touch. This will help make sure that the process of transferring customers to ScottishPower and honouring any credit balances is as hassle free for customers as possible.
